2008 AFL Grand Final Tips
Following our extensive review of the stats and potential lineups for the 2008 AFL Grand Final, which is contested by last year’s winners, the Geelong Cats, and last year’s losing semi-finalists, Hawthorn – we’re giving out some tips, for those of you on either side of the world who would like to have a bet on the 2008 AFL Grand Final. Be sure to find some free bets on this site if you want to bet online, wherever you might happen to be, and remember, enjoy the game, its only once a year – whoever you barrack for!
Outright Winners
In the outright market, the ever-impressive Geelong Cats are hard to get away from. You can get 2-5 with Paddy Power on them retaining their title this year. I fully expect them to win the 2008 AFL Grand Final, and advise at least one bet on this outright result to cover any other bets you might have.

Jimmy Bartel - a fan favourite, and medal winner of 2007.
The Norm Smith Medalist
The Norm Smith Medal winner, however, is somewhat more difficult to predict, given that it will depend very much on how play goes on the field, as well as who steps up on the day. With any sport, past performances on the big occassion are a huge indicator for how things will go on the day this year, so it is no surprise that I select three men I thought were the best players from last years final (in this order):
- Jimmy Bartel (currently 10.0 on Betfair)
- Steve Johnson (Currently 18.0 on Betfair)and
- Matthew Scarlett (27.0 on Betfair).
Scarlett is a great defender who I thought ran things from the back for a long time last year, and has it in him to make things happen going forward too. Bartel is everywhere, and Johnson has the potential to bag heaps of points.
All we have to do now is watch the clock, get our bets on and wait.
Go Cats!
