West Brom v Newcastle – Match Preview and Betting Tips
Sky Sports Super Sunday takes us to the Hawthorns, where West Brom will take on a Newcastle side still believing they have an outside chance of snatching a place in the Champions League, or more realistically, the European Cup.
Rot Hodgson’s West Brom are seemingly safe from the drop, but posing no real threat to the top lotand, basically, stuck in a mid-table scrap for the highest meaningless position. However, they aren’t taking games lightly. In fact they have won three out of their last five games. So, the Baggies will be no push over for Newcastle here, and when you consider their last outing at Wigan was a little disappointing; a 1-1 lacklustre draw, they may be out to prove Hodgson wrong (because we assume he would have had some harsh words with a few of his players).
So what about Newcastle?
Alan Pardew’s side have been on a bit of a dodgy run of late. In their last five games they only managed a draw with lowly Wolves, took a 5-0 battering at White Hart Lane, and lost 2-1 at Arsenal. They also drew with their local rivals Sunderland, which will have aggravated a few Geordies. However, a 1-0 victory over Norwich last time out put an end to that four game winless run, and will have put confidence back in the Toon Army.
But who will win?
Well, we think Newcastle will have a lot of confidence after their last game, especially with Ba and Cisse working well together. But then there is Odemwengie for the Baggies, who is also on hot form. But with West Brom not really having much to play for, and Toon keeper Krul stating their remaining fixtures will be cup finals, we think Newcastle may want it more, which we think will provide them with a narrow victory.
