Grand Nationals Remembered – 1975 L’Escargot and Tommy Carbury

Tommy Carbury broke many English hearts when stopping the incredible Red Rum (who was carrying a tremendous weight, mind you) from making it three successive Grand National wins aboard L’escargot in 1975.

This horse certainly didn’t go round at a snails pace!

You have to hand it to Red Rum for making this a true battle too, and Tommy Carbury made history himself by becomming the first jockey ever to win the Irish National, English National and Gold Cup.

What a great Grand National!
