Premier League Football Tips – Saturday 15 Nov ’08

We’ve got a bumper day of Saturday fixtures today, something of a rarity these days! The fixture list is also devoid of any what we might consider “big game” matches too. Today’s football sees some relatively run-of-the-mill matches for the big 4 teams, who will be hoping to emerge with three points each.

Below are our tips for the day’s Barclays Premier League Football.

Be sure to check out the latest Free Bet Promotions if you’re planning to have a bet or two on any of the below (or your own choices!).

Bolton v Liverpool KO 12:54

Liverpool have been beaten by Spurs a couple of times recently, but should have more than enough in their locker to cope with this Bolton side who beat Man City last week but haven’t won back to back home games since the end of last season.

As fitness returns to Fernando Torres, Liverpool become more dangerous. Expect that man to get chances, and work Jaaskelainen, who will have to be every bit as good as last week are Bolton to get anything from this game.

Advised:

Arsenal v Aston Villa KO 3pm

Arsenal returned to form with their just about deserved victory over Manchester United last week, while Aston villa have been carving out their own niche as the nation’s next best team behind the Big 4 with some impressive performances of their own. Today will show Martin O’Neill’s men just how close they really are to the top of the table.

Expect Arsenal to retain possession for much of the game (60/40) and work a few clear cut chances. Villa have enough class to create for themselves and a small margin of victory will take this. A draw or an Arsenal win by one goal are the most likely result here.

Advised:

Blackburn v Sunderland 3pm

Sunderland have let their upbeat start to the season slip away from them a little and are finding it difficult to string a good performance together, despite showing distinct quality in patches of all their games. Blackburn could easily be accussed of the same thing this term, too.

Blackburn have home advantage and should capitalise on the haphazard Sunderland defence, but will need to be cautious of the Black Cats’ pacey strikeforce.

Advised:

Fulham v Tottenham KO 3pm

Harry Redknapp’s rejuvenated Spurs should be able to get the better of Fulham at Craven Cottage today.

Advised:

Manchester United v Stoke City KO 3pm

Man Utd at Old Trafford should have plenty in hand today against this overachieving Stoke City side. Expect Rooney and Ronaldo to cause all kinds of problems for Stoke at the back today.

Advised:

Newcastle v Wigan KO 3pm

This game could be a relegation six-pointer come the end of the season and, while I hate to say this to Wigan fans, it looks like Newcastle should come out on top today. Wigan are looking poor of late, while Newcastle have the class, and a little bit more confidence, to take this match by more than one goal.

Advised:

West Ham v Portsmouth KO 3pm

Portsmouth will look to capitalise on West Ham’s recent disorganisation, and should come away from London with three points today. Portsmouth are potent in attack, and posses a solid rearguard too. West Ham look worryingly incoherent (see the bottom for our season wide managerial tip).

Advised:

West Brom v Chelsea KO 3pm

One of these sides will finish this season with Champion’s League qualification in hand. One will start next year in The Championship. We should all know which. This match will go to Chelsea by more than one goal.

Choose any bet which has that result in there: numbers of goals is a guessing game.

Tip for the Rest of the Season:

Back Gianfranco Zola to be the next manager sacked this year: West Ham don’t look like turning things round against Portsmouth today and his odds should drop even this afternoon. Even were West Ham to get a victory today, you should still have a great chance given West Ham’s next five fixtures – Sunderland away, Liverpool away, Spurs at home, Chelsea at home then Villa away – they could get 0 points from those games easily.
