Premier League Football Tips – Saturday 25 Oct ’08
Only one match takes place today at 3 o’clock and, from a betting point of view, that means we can bet in-play on pretty much all of today’s games, should we wish to, on Betfair (or any other website which is offering in-play markets!). Its incredible to have a football season Saturday with only 1 top-flight 3pm match though, but that’s a sign of the times, and we’ll still be giving the tips below.
Read on for the Barclays Premier League football tips for Saturday 25th October 2008.
Everton v Manchester United KO 12pm
The first match sees struggling Everton take on Manchester United – who have hit scintilating form of late – at home. Everton are beginning to look like a club in trouble. Man United, by contrast, have Wayne Rooney in great goalscoring form, Dimitar Berbatov off the mark (despite playing relatively badly) and Christiano Ronaldo back to full fitness, and scoring goals again. That’s got to be a worry for David Moyes, who can only hope that his goalkeeper and defence have their very best of days, and that what few chances come their way going forward are snapped up.
Expect United to control this match, with two or three fast moves ending in goals from Rooney, Berbatov or Ronaldo. Winning margin should be 2 or more in United’s favour.
Advised:
- Back Man Utd to win @ 8/15 (Ladbrokes, Paddy Power & Betfair)
- Back Rooney to score anytime @ 15/11 (Betfair)
- Back Ronaldo to score anytime @ 31/21 (Betfair)
Sunderland v Newcastle KO 12:45pm
For most of the past several seasons, Newcastle would go into this match as favourites. This year, though, things are oh so different. Sunderland have got some reasonable form as Roy Keane’s huge squad seems well-assembled and able to stand up to the rigours of Premier League football. Newcastle are a side adrift, bereft of confidence, without a long-term manager, and a club that nobody seems to want to own. That said, derby games are different, and Newcastle players may rise to the challenge this afternoon. May.
Expect Sunderland to exploit Newcastle’s shaky rearguard on one or more occasions, while the visitors will threaten occasionally themselves.
Advised:
- Back Sunderland to win @ 25/19 (Betfair) 13/10 (Paddy Power)
- Back Correct Score 2-1 to Sunderland @ 9/1 (ExtraBet)
West Brom v Hull City KO 3pm
On current form, there should be only one winner of this match: Hull City. Geovanni scored a beauty to make it two wins from two in the capital a couple of weeks ago and they followed that up with another victory last week against West Ham, while West Brom got spanked by Man Utd. These two clubs look set on opposite planes at present, and there’s nothing to suggest the trend won’t continue.
Expect Hull to win by one or two goals, with Geovanni most likely to get on the score sheet.
Advised:
- Back Hull City to win @ 12/5 (WIlliam Hill, VCBet)
- Back Geovanni to score anytime @ 4/1 (Betfair) or 7/2 (Paddy Power)
Blackburn v Middlesbrough KO 5:30pm
Middlesbrough will be smarting from their home routing at the hands of Chelsea, but Blackburn at Ewood Park should have more than enough to grab the three points here today. That said, Boro have been tremendously hit or miss this season, and might well produce a sparkling performance to share the points, or even pinch this game.

One goal away from another perfect Saturday – but props to Everton for taking their chance. The Sunderland result put a nice juicy 9/1 winner on the board – our best in the football tipping this season.
