Premier League Football Tips Saturday 29 Nov ‘08

Most of this weekends biggest football matches take place tomorrow, however there are five fixtures today, all of which may offer betting opportunities. All of today’s games take place at 3pm too.

Here we provide tips and predictions for each of the Barclays Premier League fixtures for Saturday 29th November 2008.

Aston Villa v Fulham

Villa are looking to firmly establish themselves in the Champions League places following their recent great run, which has coincided with Arsenal’s mini-crisis. Villa will take third spot, at least for 24 hours, with a win against Fulham here today and, with Man Utd taking on Man City tomorrow, and Arsenal facing Chelsea, they may well hold that place come Monday morning were they to get a result today.

Aston Villa have been producing some great performances of late against far better sides than Fulham. At home they have at times dominated teams too. Fulham have had as good a start to this season as they could have hoped for after last year’s relegation battle, though Villa should have a little too much for them, despite Schwarzer’s heroics in goal.

Expect Villa to control possession and win the shot count. They should have a two goal advantage, and will be tight as ever at the back.

Score prediction: Aston Villa 2 – 0 Fulham

Advised:

Middlesbrough v Newcastle

Boro at home have won their tough games, yet come unstuck against the lesser lights this term. Despite getting caught twice early against Bolton, they showed there is still plenty for Middlesbrough fans to cheer about going forwards, though their inability to keep many clean sheets is a slight concern. Newcastle are beginning to pull themselves out of the predicament they found themselves in a month or two ago, but may well have to settle for a draw as their best result in today’s Tyne-Tees derby.

Expect goals at either end: both of these sides have defensive frailties and more to offer going forwards.

Score prediction: Middlesbrough 2 – 1 Newcastle

Advised:

Stoke City v Hull City

Stoke have got a small amount of breathing room above the relegation zone as a result of a rigid and organised defence coupled with very direct tactics in attack. Stoke put men behind the ball and look to capitalise on set pieces. Hull, on the other hand, place their emphasis on attack: they will once again be looking to take three points today. It will be interesting to see which method wins out – the difference today will most likely be Hull’s ability to score goals, with the excellent Geovanni likely to get on the score sheet again today.

Score Prediction: Stoke 1 – 2 Hull

Advised:

  • 1 Point Back Hull City to win @ 12/5 with Skybet
  • 1 Point Back Geovanni to score anytime @ 11/4

Sunderland v Bolton

Sunderland should be able to overcome a Bolton side that always causes problems away from home today providing they can defend more resolutely than their neighbours on Tees side managed last week. Sunderland have a pacey strike force who should be able to score at least once against this Bolton side, who will need their evergreen goalkeeper to once again be on top form are they to take anything away from the Staium of Light.

Score prediction: Sunderland 3 – 1 Bolton

Advised:

Wigan v West Brom

Unfortunately for West Brom, the wheels look to have come off their Premiership campaign this season. Its getting difficult to see how they can win a match with their current tactics: until things change, they offer chances to any side they place. Wigan are easily good enough to capitalise on a couple of those chances at home today.

Score Prediction: Wigan 2 – 0 West Brom
