Royal Ascot 2009 Tips – Day 3 (Ladies Day) Thursday 18th June
We got some blinding lays at Royal Ascot day 2, while the backing tips weren’t quite up to the first day, Hopefully we’ll be able to provide yet more success with our betting tips for Day 3 of Royal Ascot – it’s Ladies Day!
2:30 Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) 5f BBC1
This Norfolk might well be heading North in 2009, as we fancy Reignier and Here Now and Why as marginal leading contenders based on their best winning times to date. The prices on each of these should be in double figures, so small each-way bets are the order of the day here.
Running Mate would have to improve remarkably to get close to the frame here – we’re laying this one.
3:05 Ribblesdale Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) 1m4f BBC1
Two horses look likely to fight this Group 2 event out based on Systemlays’ ratings: July Jasmine and Take The Hint. If the prices allow, an each-way bet on each of these may pay dividends, otherwise a small reverse forecast would pay well if successful.
We’re opposing the likely favourite, Leocorno, as, on the clock, it has something to find on our top two, and has not run over more than 9 furlongs. Take the Hint, on the other hand, has produced two noteworthy performances over 1m2f+, both of which, based on our comparative ratings, were better than anything Leocorno has produced on course to date.
3:45 Gold Cup (Group 1) 2m4f BBC2
Yeats has won this race the last three times, so has to be respected again. However, we expect Centennial and Geordieland each-way will be better priced to produce good value.
Sagara, Godolphin’s second string, will find it hard to win against this classy field. It’s a big lay for us.
4:20 Britannia Stakes (Heritage Handicap) 1m BBC2
A massive handicap field of 30 will compete over the Ascot mile here. We think Suruor, at around 33-1, is worth a small each-way with 4 places to aim for.
Eastern Empire may well struggle under the conditions, we are laying.
4:55 Hampton Court Stakes (Listed Race) 1m2f BBC2
We’ve got three horses at the top of our ratings for this race: Freemantle, Monitor Closely and Glass Harmonium (in that order). There is a slight margin between these three and the rest of the field, so we recommend a small stakes combination forecast and/or a trifecta as the prices will likely be fairly short.
Lay Palavicini at around 10-1.
5:30 King George V Stakes (Heritage Handicap) 1m4f
We have two horses in the middle of this handicap who we think are well placed to go well in this event: Takaatuf and Dubai Crest. From out of the handicap, we think outsider Cosmic Sun is better than his odds will suggest – he could well get into a place.
Those looking to lay in this race should look no further than Brunston.
