The Roland-Garros French Open 2009 Tennis Tournament
According to the bookies, Andy Murray is 4th most likely to win the men’s French Open. Rafael Nadal is favourite, followed closely by Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. As Rafa left for Paris on Wednesday he said:
I expect to play well. And we will see if I am ready to win or not, but of course it would please me very much to win it for the fifth consecutive time. If I play at my best level, I think I can have a good result in Paris, and if this is not the case, I must take it calmly because this has been a good year for me.
In the women’s competition, big names Maria Sharapova and the Williams sisters are well behind the favourites Dinara Safina, Jelena Jankovic and Svetlana Kuznetsova. The clay court competition is organised by the Fédération Française de Tennis and has prize money totalling around $21.8 million, with about $1.4 million for each of the men’s and women’s singles champions. The finals will be held on 6th & 7th June 2009 but there are lots of bet specials to keep you going until the outright winners are announced including 1st set bets and “name the finalists”.
